About DeWitt

Our second downtown location, housed in the historic DeWitt Mall, where you can get all the basics within walking distance of your home if you live downtown. DeWitt offers that small-town store charm with most of the amenities of a larger grocery store including a produce department, local meats and cheeses, frozen foods and dairy offerings, as well as a hot bar and salad bar, soup, and plenty of grab-and-go foods.

Kombucha on Tap @ Dewitt

GreenStar DeWitt now has kombucha on tap! Aquavitae Kombucha is handcrafted with intention and microbrewed at Salisbury Natural Family Health in Salisbury Vermont, Owners Jeff and Katina are amazed by its popularity with both the naturopathic and beer drinking crowds alike. You can fill up your own container or get one at the store. As you can see, GreenStar staff members Kat & Devin are loving it. Aqua Vitea Kombucha is hand crafted in Vermont. Learn more at

Fun Fact

The DeWitt Mall originally served as the Ithaca High School, and then became DeWitt Junior High School, then DeWitt Middle School before becoming a mixed retail and residential building that now houses the very well known Moosewood Restaurant in addition to other local businesses. When GreenStar was starting in 1971, the Somadhara Bakery, operated by Ananda Marga Yogis, was opening in the newly renovated DeWitt Mall. The Bakery eventually became Oasis Natural Foods Market, which GreenStar took over in 2004 — thus beginning GreenStar at DeWitt.
