While we are currently asking customers not to bring reusable bags, we continue to honor our Bring Your Own Bag, Use It for Good donation commitments. Each quarter, GreenStar selects three local not-for-profits to be the recipients of our Bring Your Own Bag, Use It for Good program donations. Our BYOB program encouraged shoppers to bring their own bags by providing them with a token worth 5¢ that they can donate to one of the chosen organizations. This quarter, our recipients are the Ithaca Children’s Garden, Cayuga Waterfront Trail, and CLEAN (Cayuga Lake Environmental Action Now).
Ithaca Children’s Garden (ICG) is an award-winning, three-acre public children’s garden designed for kids, enjoyed by all, and driven by a mission to connect children to nature to create a more beautiful, resilient, and just world. ICG’s vision is that every child has the basic human right to play, learn, and grow outdoors and develop a life-long relationship with the living world.
ICG offers educational programming for youth ages 2.5 and up and offers year-round free community events open to all. All donations received from GreenStar’s Bring Your Own Bag program will go directly to ICG’s Scholarship Fund to help connect more children to nature.
With a policy to never let cost be a barrier to participation, scholarships are available for all of ICG’s educational programs. By making a donation to Ithaca Children’s Garden you are directly supporting families in your community and every child’s right to play, learn, and grow in nature.
GreenStar is pleased to be a part of supporting Ithaca Children’s Garden and their mission here in Tompkins County!
