Bulk Department News: Local coffee, nutritious sea vegetables, and warm soup!
Did you catch the feature on Argueta’s coffee in November’s GreenLeaf? GreenStar’s West End Bulk Department is now stocking two varieties of their excellent coffee beans in Bulk. Working directly with his cousin in the Guatemalan highlands, Tompkins County’s own Abner Argueta brings us some of the tastiest coffee I’ve ever had. Besides its virtues of being shade-grown at high altitude, I particularly like that Argueta’s Coffee is direct trade (bought straight from the growers, with no middleman).
Our longtime supplier of sea vegetables from the Maine Coast, Larch Hanson, has got us stocked up once again with nori, dulse, alaria, digitata, and kelp. I find winter to be a great time to use sea vegetables. They’re especially yummy, and it’s so easy to include them in a nice big pot of soup. It’s also a great way to infuse a good amount of increasingly important iodine into your diet.
And if soup is the word, grab some Miso Master miso from the Bulk Department while you’re at it!
