Buying Oranges, Grapefruit, Lemons and More from GreenStar Supports Migrant Health

 

You may have noticed the large display of oranges, grapefruit, tangerines, lemons and more in the foyer of our West End store. Citrus fruits, organic and non-organic, are grown throughout the U.S. and Mexico. Migrant workers are often involved in growing and harvesting most crops in this country and beyond. Access to health care and other necessities can be a challenge for migrant workers.

When you shop the citrus display, GreenStar will donate 10% of the profit from the sale of the fruits to the National Center for  Farmworker Health (NCFH).  The NCFH eliminates the barriers to health care and increases access to culturally appropriate quality health care for farmworker families at more than 500 migrant health center service sites.

The National Center for Farmworker Health (NCFH) is a private, not-for-profit corporation located in Buda, Texas dedicated to improving the health status of farmworker families by providing information services, training and technical assistance, and a variety of products to community and migrant health centers nationwide, as well as organizations, universities, researchers, and individuals involved in farmworker health.
