By: Co+op, stronger together The holiday season is approaching, and that means it’s time to entertain! Hosting any meal can be both fun and, let's face it, a little stressful. Everything You Need to Know About Pie Dough

2018-02-25T02:29:21-04:00

By: Megan Dorn, Co+op, stronger together I've always loved pie, in particular my Aunt Susie’s apple pie. When I was a kid she would bake one, wrap it up and give it to me for my birthday. Did I sit around the dinner table and share the delicious pie with my family? Absolutely not. I would literally hide it under my bed, devouring a slice before school, another after school and usually one more before bed...then repeat. That’s how good it was (and still is!). Pie is one of those all-American, all-seasons treats that is always better homemade. It is also incredibly versatile. The size, shape and design can be tailored to the baker’s own liking and creativity and the fillings [...]

Happy Co-op Month!

2018-02-25T02:29:22-04:00

By Alexis Alexander, Membership Manager This October, GreenStar is joining over 30,000 co-ops and credit unions across the United States in celebrating Co-op Month, observed nationally since 1964. This year, the National Cooperative Business Association CLUSA International has chosen “Co-operatives Commit” as the theme for the month, highlighting the many ways that co-ops are committed to their communities. Co-op Month reminds us that GreenStar is just one of many co-ops that are committed to the value of shared ownership to achieve common economic, social, and cultural needs and aspirations. From food co-ops to farmer co-ops, worker co-ops to credit unions, and housing co-ops to energy co-ops many different types of cooperatives contribute to our communities and the economy. Co-ops are [...]

With a bit of planning and a few hours of prepping some basic meal components, you can eat with delicious variety all week long. Here’s how it works. Set aside some time on a Sunday and make a few of these culinary building blocks. Seal them up (they’ll last up to five days in the fridge), and come Tuesday night or Wednesday lunchtime combine a few building blocks with something simple [...]
