Finger Lakes Cider Week kicks off Sept. 28, with events and tastings held throughout the region. Intended to cultivate an appreciation for New York’s orchard-based cider by showcasing its diversity, food-friendliness, and excellent quality, Cider Week was launched in 2010 and has been growing ever since. Events range from tastings to three-course dinners, cruises to orchard tours, and the week coincides with downtown Ithaca’s Apple Harvest Festival.

Here at GreenStar, we’re proud to carry cider from several local cideries and orchards, including Eve’s Cidery, Kite & String, Redbyrd Orchard Cider, Blackduck Cidery, South Hill Cider, Phonograph Cider, Embark Craft Ciderworks, and Black Diamond Cider. On Saturday, Oct. 6, from 11:30 am to 2 pm in the West End store foyer, join Alexis from Black Diamond Farm and Cider. She’ll have samples of their estate-grown hard cider and fresh-picked apples. Black Diamond Cider, located in Trumansburg, NY, has been supplying the Co-op with their modern, unique, and heirloom apple varieties for over a decade. Their ciders are made in small batches using fruit grown in in their orchard coupled with traditional cider making methods. Each is a unique blend that expresses the diversity of flavor and aroma found in their apples.
