Cooperators in the Community
What is Cooperators in the Community?
Cooperators in the Community encourages GreenStar members to volunteer at local nonprofit Community Partners, tapping into the potential of GreenStar’s members to positively impact our community. GreenStar members who volunteer with participating Community Partners get more than good feelings for volunteering – they can get a discount, too! How it Works
- Attend an Orientation and Complete the Agreement: Interested individuals must attend a Cooperators in the Community orientation at GreenStar, and submit a completed Cooperator Agreement. You’ll receive your first two (2) hours of Community Volunteer credit for attending the orientation!
- The Discount: Individual GreenStar members who volunteer two (2) hours at a participating Community Partner organization will receive Community Volunteer credit for a 15.5% discount for one week of purchases at all three store locations. This discount cannot be combined with other member discounts, but will supersede other eligible member discounts when activated.
- Receiving Credit: Individuals can receive up to eight (8) hours of Community Volunteer credit per month, equaling four (4) weeks of the 15.5% discount. Community Volunteer Credit will be added to the Cooperator’s bank monthly, in the first week of the month. Cooperators will activate their discount credit through the Online Member Center at their discretion. Activated credit that has not been activated expires after sixty (60) days.
- Maintain Active Membership: Individual GreenStar memberships must be up-to-date to be eligible to participate and receive the discount. In other words, member equity payments must be kept up to date.
- Where to Volunteer: Volunteer hours must be performed at a participating GreenStar Community Partner organization, listed below. Click on a Partner’s logo to find out what volunteer opportunities are available, and learn about their volunteer sign-up and onboarding process.
How Do I Get Involved?
- Attend an upcoming Cooperators in the Community orientation at GreenStar.
- Download and fill out the Cooperators in the Community Cooperator Agreement and bring it with you to the orientation. No printer – no worries! We’ll have copies available at the orientation, too!
