Cranberry Sauce in bowl

Cranberry sauce is a holiday staple for many. Tangy and sweet, this is the perfect “make ahead dish,” as its flavor improves when allowed to sit in the refrigerator overnight.


  • 1 – 12 oz. bag of fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup water or orange juice
  • 2 tsp. orange zest
  • 1 cup sugar GreenStar Basics


  1. In a small saucepan over low heat, combine sugar and water until sugar dissolves.
  2. Add cranberries and cook until they burst, about 10 minutes. Stir in orange zest.
  3. Remove saucepan from heat and let cool completely, then transfer to a resealable container and refrigerate for several hours before serving.
