GreenStar Council News for June 2024

Consider Running for Council or Joining a Council Committee

Council elections will occur in October, and this year we have 6 open seats on Council; 5 Council member’s terms are expiring and there is currently 1 vacant seat. If you have any interest in running for Council, now is the time to reach out and ask questions, review application materials or attend a Council meeting. If you are curious, but volunteering for Council seems too big a step, consider volunteering to serve as an at-large member on a Council committee! Highlights from the June Council Meeting

At its June regular meeting, Council received information from the SPCA of Tompkins County, GreenStar’s June Partners for Change recipient and received the General Manager’s Monthly Report.

Council approved the following proposals:

  • Policy B.2 – Planning and Budgeting Monitoring Report
  • Monitoring of the D Policies
    • D.0 Global-Council Management Connection
    • D.1 Unity of Control
    • D.2 Accountability of the GM
    • D.3 Delegation to the GM
    • D.4 Monitoring GM Performance
    • D.5 GM Compensation and Position Length
  • Amendments to Council’s Elections and Appointments Procedure

Council reviewed the following New Business items:

  • Policy B.1.1Q24 Financial Condition Policy Monitoring
  • Policy B.3 Asset Protection Policy Monitoring 
  • 2023 draft Annual Audit
  • Amendments to Policy C.7 Council Committees
  • Amendments to Council’s Vote Counting Procedure

Come early for pre-meeting engagement with Council!

From 6:15 – 6:30 PM GreenStar members are invited to join Council members for an opportunity to engage in conversation. This 15 minute period is an “open-mic” format and will be recurring – taking place ahead of the GreenStar Council meeting every second Tuesday of the month.
