Highlights from the November Council Meeting

Council certified the results of the October 2022 Council Elections. Erik Amos, Marilyn Chase, Dan Hoffman and Gary Kuchmeister were elected for 3-year terms beginning in January 2023!

Council approved a proposal to discontinue the recurring 30 minute “Conversations with Council” member event, which Council has been hosting since April 2021. The intention of these sessions was to provide a recurring forum for members to engage with Council about topics that are important to them. Unfortunately, these online events were not well attended. The 20 Conversations with Council hosted between April 2021 and November 2022 saw a total of 11 attendees, several of whom were repeat attendees. Conversely, member attendance at regular monthly Council meetings has increased since the move to online meetings in 2020! Therefore, beginning with the December 13, 2022 regular meeting, Council invites members to arrive early for casual conversation! The online meeting room will be open at 6:15 for folx to engage with each other and Council members prior to the 6:30pm meeting start time.

Council accepted the B.7 – Communication to Council Monitoring Report as on time, complete, and in compliance with all sub-policies. This is the first non-financial policy report from our new General Manager. With this report, we are re-establishing a cyclic reporting schedule which ensures regular monitoring for policy compliance.

Council monitored Policy C.6 – Officers Roles, finding we were in compliance except subpolicy 5.a.iii, which states “the President shall plan for Officer and Committee Chair perpetuation.” Council directed the president to bring us back into compliance by the end of January.

Council also approved the 2023 Council Work Plan, the 2023 Council budget, and a contribution from Council’s budget to the Neighboring Food Co-op Association Annual Dues. You can find details on these items by reviewing the November Council Agenda, which is available on the Council Documents page of the GreenStar.coop website. Minutes are posted to the website upon approval from Council (typically at the following month’s Council meeting).
