Who Can Be a Partner for Change?

Partner for Change organizations are self-nominated by application and elected by GreenStar member-owners through a yearly ballot. GreenStar will partner with organizations whose mission and purpose align with cooperative values and principles, as well as GreenStar’s Global Ends Statement. Partners for Change will highlight organizations that share our commitment to sustainable agriculture/organic food, environmental protection/stewardship, hunger, and social justice issues, local food system, co-ops, and the well-being and education of our community regarding these topics.

• Nominees must be local (within 100 miles), 501(c)3 non-profit organizations serving our community.
• Partners for Change must be non-sectarian and non-partisan. GreenStar Co+op will not support organizations that permit the exclusion of a group based on their gender, race/ethnicity,  religion, sexual orientation, disability, or familial status.
• Schools, both private and public, are not eligible for the Partner for Change Program.
• Organizations that were Partners for Change in this or the previous 3 calendar years are not eligible for selection.
• There are at least 10 available months for Change recipients. GreenStar Food Co+op reserves up to two months for pre-determined recipients. GreenStar reserves the right to preempt the Partners for Change schedule to raise emergency or disaster relief funds.

Decisions about eligibility for Partners for Change nomineess are made by a committee of Co-op employees. All organizations applying to be Partners for Change will be notified about the status of their application by September 19. All eligible nominees will be put on the Partners for Change ballot for a vote by GreenStar member-owners in October, coinciding with Council elections, and will be featured beginning in January.

How to Nominate an Organization for Partners For Change

• Self-nominate by September 1 for the following calendar year. Submit the form and media requirements below.
• To complete the nomination, submit the following required media by email to membership@greenstar.coop:
  • 1-3 high-resolution photos representing the organization’s work.
  • Organization logo (ai, pdf, jpg, png., eps).
• Optional: Review and submit a Cooperators in the Community Community Partner Agreement, if volunteer opportunities exist with your organization, and you wish to opt-in to the program, if elected.

• GreenStar members vote for Partners for Change in October. Elected Partners for Change will be featured beginning in January.
