Time to Plan The Garden

 

If you are a gardener, seed catalogs started filling up our mailbox in January. Maybe you started planning out your  2017 crops and now is the time to get moving. Here at GreenStar we have a great selection of organic seeds from High Mowing and Fruition Seeds. New this year is a potting soil mix, the GreenStar Organic Blend, from local garden supply company GreenTree.

High Mowing  Organic Seeds is a Vermont-based seed company started in 1996 as a one-man operation. They originally sold 28 varieties of seed and have grown to over 600 heirloom and open pollinated varieties.

Fruition Seeds is located 49 miles from GreenStar in Naples, NY. They cultivate over 300 varieties of organic vegetables, herbs, and flower seeds. Fruition Seeds are selected for maxium productivity and disease resistance for Northeast gardeners.

GreenTree potting soils are made with a nutrient-rich base of coconut coir, organic fertilizer, and BioCore biochar that helps container plants get the most out of the soil.  The GreenStar blend soil was “aged” to build biology, producing a high-quality organic soil. Our blend contains coconut coir, sphagnum peat, organic nutrients, worm castings and biochar. GreenTree has a retail store on route 13 south if Ithaca.
