Welcoming Wildflowers – Locally Owned by Florist, Sarah White

In March 2021 GreenStar Food Co+op welcomed local florist, Sarah White. Her gorgeous display of bouquets, wreaths, succulent and cacti, and house plants are a gem within the Cascadilla St. produce department and offers plenty of options to bring into your home.

Sarah grew up helping her mother (an avid florist) tend her flowerbeds and worked as a teenager at local greenhouses. Now she proudly owns and operates her own lovely flower shop in Dryden, NY. She’s even provided flowers to a few celebrities – Richard Branson, Ashton Kutcher, and the vice-president of the Green Bay Packers.

A cancer survivor herself, Sarah is known to bring flowers and her empathic energy to those facing Cancer in their lives.

“I get to share my story with them to bring them hope and encouragement,” she commented. And while interactions are limited due to COVID safety measures, anyone who has met Sarah knows her as positive and high-energy and could immediately understand how uplifting those interactions must be.

So, what is Sarah’s – the florist, local businesswoman, and a natural enthusiast – favorite flower?

“The woods flowers that bloom in the spring, the trillium, the ones we call April showers bring may flowers”, she says with a friendly laugh. “Take a walk in early spring and you will see in the woods many pretty wildflowers.”
