There are just a few weeks left to support this quarter’s recipients of our Bring Your Own Bag – Use It for Good program — the Cayuga Waterfront Trail InitiativeIthaca Welcomes Refugees (IWR), and Wildkind Care — with your wooden nickel.

Our BYOB program encourages our shoppers to bring their own bags by providing them with a token worth 5¢ that they are able to donate to the non-profit of their choice. Each quarter we select three local non-profits, which represent the categories of people, planet, and animals, to be recipients of this program. At the end of the quarter, we make a donation to the groups based on the amount of tokens provided by our customers.

The Cayuga Waterfront Trail is a 5.5-mile, multi-use trail providing an active, non-motorized transportation and recreation way connecting our community’s most popular waterfront destinations. The Cayuga Waterfront Trail Initiative (CWTI) is a partnership of the Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce Foundation.

Ithaca Welcomes Refugees (IWR) Ithaca Welcomes Refugees is a community initiative that fosters a welcoming and fair environment for refugees who come to our region. Their work includes resource gathering, fundraising, resettlement assistance, and education and awareness efforts.

Wildkind Care is a home-based wildlife rehabilitation facility located in Montour Falls. They have cared for hundreds of animals, with the goal of releasing them back into the wild, every year since 1992. Wildkind receives animals from Schuyler, Chemung, Steuben, Yates, and Tompkins counties, as well as fielding calls from NYC and Long Island.
